PREVENTIVE MEASURES TO COMBAT COVID - SIDDHA ASPECT


The Ministry of Ayush has shared some Siddha Self care Tips to boost immunity thereby preventing COVID Infection .In the wake of the current spike in COVID-19 cases, enhancing the body’s natural defense system (immunity) is important in maintaining optimum health. The Ministry of AYUSH recommends following the self-care guidelines modified as per the available evidence for improving immunity.
 
General and Preventive Measures :
  • Follow physical social distancing , respiratory, and hand hygiene and wear mask .
  • Always drink boiled water.
Gargling: 
  • Water boiled with a  pinch of turmeric and salt should be  gargled  twice a day.(Not less than 3 times ) .
  • Water boiled with Thiripala (  Kadukkai, Nellikai, Thandrikai) can be used for gargling .
Steam Inhalation :
  • Steam inhalation with Tulasi , Nochi (Vitex negundo ) Leaf , Manjal (Turmeric) can be used.
  • Steam inhalation with omam (Trachyspermum ammi ), Pudina (Mentha spicata ), Karporam ( Camphor ) is advised once a day .
Environmental Fumigation : 
Fumigate the house every evening with Kunguliyam ( Shorea robusta ), Sambirani ( Styrax Benzoin ) Manjal( Curcuma Longa ) Neem ( Azadirachta indica )  is advocated .
  • Daily practice of Yogam such as Naadi sutthi Pranayamam, Pranayamam, Suriyanamaskaram, Savasanam, Makarasanam, Meenasanam, Arthameenasanam helps to increase the elasticity of bronchioles as well as rejuvenate the lung tissues and meditation for at least 30 minutes as advised by the Ministry of AYUSH National Clinical Management Protocol for COVID-19 prophylaxis.
  • Adequate sleep ( 7-8hrs ) should be taken and the day time sleep has to be avoided .
Dietary Advice :
  • Avoid all the allergic foods.
  • Frequent intake of water processed with Tulsi is adviced
Drinking water :
  • Herbal water infusion made of half teaspoon of Chukku (dried ginger ) can be consumed throughout the day .
Hot Beverages :
  • Inji(Ginger ) tea , Athimathuram (Licorice ) can be consumed through the day.
  • Golden Milk : Boil the milk with quarter teaspoon of Manjal (Turmeric) , Milagu (Pepper), Palm sugar Candy  and consume it in the day time .
  • Consume Fresh water Crab Soup this contains Anti-Kapha properties and kills lots of Respiratory infection and strengthen the lung immune system . (Avoid Marine Water crabs as it contains allergic Properties ).
  • Consume  Pancha Mutti Kanji ( refer the link for further details) -( 5- grains - Pachaarisi, Ulunthu, Thuvaram paruppu, kadalai parupu, pachai payaru ) make it as a gruel it helps to improve the immunity.
  • Consume Rice , Barley , Ragi Gruel .
  • Consume Irumurai Vaditha Kanji ( Double cooked gruel ).
