Keerai (Spinach)
is a super food loaded with tons of Nutrients in a low-calorie package. Each type of spinach has its unique nutrients. Generally it contains iron,
phosphorous , calcium , vitamin a ,c , b etc..The spinach varieties helps to balance the three body humours ( vatha, pitham and kabam ). Among many varieties of spinach.

in siddha text:
1.Sirukeerai (சிறுகீரை )- Amaranthus tricolor
Health Benefits:
- It is very
effective in the treatment of eye diseases, urinary disorders, ulcers, cough
etc…
- Regular consumption of this green benefits with weight loss and helps to
cure menstrual abnormality.
- The decoction of the whole plant taken internally
helps to improve vision and strengthen the liver .
- Highly recommended for babies,
mother and anemic.
- The tribes usually chew this green to get rid of cough.
- Due to its fibrous nature, it facilitates
digestion and corrects constipation.
- It helps to strengthen the hair roots .
- It contains
carbohydrates, protein, Vitamin A,C,B2,B1,Niacin , calcium , iron and fibre .
- It has anti arthritic, anti inflammatory and hepato- protective property.

2. Thandukeerai(கீரை தண்டு) - Amarantus gangetius
There are two
varities of thandukeerai they are Venkeerai thandu and Senkeerai thandu .
