Salacia is a climbing, perennial, woody shrub also known as ponkorandi in Tamil, Kothala himbutu in Sinhala and  Saptachakra in Sanskrit  which means 7 wheels, when the root is cut it shows 7 wheel like structure. Salacia is a native herb to India and Srilanka.

Mugs made from the Salacia woods are used by  peoples with Diabetes to drink water .

  • Salacia helps in  treating diabetes.
